Biographies
Below, you will find the company biographies of the people that provide the exceptional services and leadership that PG Surg-Med is known for throughout Northern British Columbia.
Gary D. Chan, B. Comm., C.A., President |

|
Gary has resided in Prince George since 1973 and is one of the founders of the Company since its inception in 1978.
Gary is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has been involved in providing advice on accounting and business related matters in both the private and public sector.
He is a leader in the community and an active Director on the Executive of the Home Dealer’s Medical Association representing Northern British Columbia. His vision is to establish long-term sustainable healthcare in the North to PG Surg-Med Ltd.’s many clients.
He keeps abreast of the medical industry by regular attendance to Medtrade in the Southeastern U.S. which offers a marketplace of over 900 exhibiting companies and accesses to experts in the areas that matter most: Accreditation, Home Health Nursing, Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology and Information Technology in the medical sector. He attends the annual International Seating Symposium in Vancouver which addresses current and future developments in the areas of seating, positioning and mobility to ensure PG Surg Med Ltd. remains a leader in health care in the North.

Russell Pratt, ATS, BMET, Rehab Sales Manager |

Russell is a graduate of BCIT’s Biomedical Engineering program and brings over 10 years experience to the industry. He is a Certified Assistive Technology Supplier under RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America), an interdisciplinary association for the advancement of rehabilitation and assistive technology. It adheres to and promotes the highest standards of ethical conduct.
As the Rehab Sales Manager, Russell ensures that his team is educated and trained on current health and safety standards and technological changes. He has established teams in Prince George and the surrounding area; North to Fort Nelson; West to the Queen Charlottes; East to the Alberta border; South to 100 Mile House.
A native of Prince George, Russell is a huge sports advocate and volunteers time and resources to the Prince George Sports Community. It is not uncommon to see him on the ice in the winter and ball field in the summer.

John started with PG Surg-Med Ltd in November 2008 and oversees operations for both the Prince George and Vernon locations. John brings with him numerous years of experience in Operations Management and is an active supporter of youth sports in Prince George being actively involved in youth soccer for many years.

Gillian Gale – Customer Service Sales |

Gillian has been with PG Surg Med Ltd. since 1990 and is responsible for purchasing, inventory and accounts payable. She is one of our top customer sales and support representatives and is certified in mastectomy and compression stocking fittings. She has a strong first aid background and will be happy to assist you with restocking your first aid kits to current industry standards. She is well versed in ambulatory aids such as walkers, canes, bath aids and various kinds of lifts to enhance independent living.

Laura Ward, Home Health Consultant - Sales |

Laura is a Certified Fitter of compression therapy socks and mastectomy prosthesis with nine years experience. Her training has also enabled her to help individuals with wound care, incontinent and Ostomy product choices.
As well as in-store customer service, Laura is the Senior Fitter who makes home visits and travels to parts of Northern BC to provide mastectomy fittings. She facilitates on-site staff training with PG Surg-Med’s product line Sales Representatives which is consistent with the most up-to-date information and training the company provides for its staff.

Jennifer Erickson, Rehab Coordinator |

Jennifer has a certificate in Rehabilitation Assisting and has worked with Prince George Regional Hospital for the last 9 years; 7 of those years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and 2 years as a Physiotherapy Assistant. Jennifer has also participated in seating courses with the Choice Therapists and has had many years of experience in helping therapists seat clients.
At PG Surg-Med Ltd., Jennifer coordinates the Rehab Department through booking appointments for clients and therapists. She ensures that all equipment from the assessment phase to supply phase is set-up, ready and available for client use. Jennifer is the liaison between the client, therapists and technicians.
When not at work, Jennifer enjoys playing with her two children and hockey in the Prince George Women’s Hockey League.

Carly Friedrich, Rehab Coordinator Assistant |

Carly Friedrich is the Rehabilitation Coordinator Assistant for PG Surg Med Ltd. She has been with the company since 2007. Carly is eager to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding rehab issues. She assures you that if she cannot answer your question – she will find a solution as prompt as possible.

Keith Byers, Senior Technician |

Keith has worked in the rehab mobility for over 8 years, the last five with PG Surg-Med Ltd. Keith is a certified installer of elevators and lifts from various manufacturers such as Ricon/VMI, Braun, Waverley Glen and Savaria Concord. He has attended numerous manufacturer training sessions and works closely with therapists to customize seating and mobility equipment to each individual’s specific needs. Keith has lived and traveled extensively throughout Northern British Columbia working with therapists and clients.
Keith regularly travels to the lower mainland to Sunny Hill and GF Strong to work directly with therapists and experts in custom seating to ensure our clients are matched with the best solution for their needs.

Michael Miller, Technician – Prince George - West

|
Michael Miller joined PG Surg Med Ltd. in 2004. He brings with him extensive woodworking, electrical and mechanical skills. Michael’s experience includes advanced technological experience with computer and equipment programming. He is trained and certified in installation of ceiling tracks, elevators and stair lifts and all forms of ambulatory aids. Michael works closely with therapists and clients to provide products, service and knowledge required to do the job right.

Steve Wood, Sales Rep/Technician – Prince George - North |

For the past three years, Steve has been a friendly face that customers of PG Surg-Med Ltd. have come to know. He brings an extensive electrical background. As sales representative for points north of Prince George to Fort Nelson, Steve’s main duties include working with therapists and ensuring clients are provided with the products, knowledge and service they require.
Steve is active in the community and in his spare time can be seen coaching on the local soccer fields.

Kent Nadeau, Sales Representative Rehab – Prince George - West |

Kent joined PG Surg-Med Ltd. in 2001. He is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and prior to joining the company worked for ten years as a group home supervisor for the Prince George Association for Community Living. Kent brings very valuable practical and managerial experience in the healthcare sector. He is a Certified Assistive Technology Supplier under RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America), an interdisciplinary association with advancement of rehabilitation and assistive technology.
Kent’s territory includes Prince George and points west to the Queen Charlottes. He works directly with therapists to ensure that clients receive the best medical equipment to suit their needs.

Melody Chamberlain, Vehicle Modification Specialist |

Melody comes to PG Surg Med with 5 years experience in modifying vehicles for increased accessibility. She has worked both as a mobility equipment dealer and for a manufacturer, and prior to that, had 15 years experience in the health care field as a hands-on care provider in both private and facility settings.
She is past Vice-President of NMEDA Canada (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association), an international organization for those in the adaptive mobility industry that holds its members to the highest standard of conduct in every area of business, from ethics to equipment installation. Melody keeps abreast of all industry standards, new equipment and products, and relevant regulations and guidelines. She works closely with therapists and other professionals to ensure all needs are taken into consideration for vehicle modifications.
Melody services our entire service delivery area, and will be traveling to all communities to ensure all clients and therapists have access to her expertise.

Julie has been purchasing for PG Surg-Med Ltd since 2003. Julie is also a Certified Fitter of medical compression stockings. Julie would be happy to assist you in finding special products for your individual needs.

Stan Brown - Territory Sales Manager |

Stan is our newest employee at PG Surg-Med Ltd and joined us in February 2009 as our new Territory Sales Manager Vernon.
Stan and his family have recently re-located from Prince George. Stan brings with him six years of experience working with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in hospitals and care homes and brings a vast amount of Rehab experience. Stan looks forward to working with the professionals’ in and around Vernon.

Tanya has a strong retail background and has been heavily involved in community volunteer services including wheelchair basketball, both as a coach and member of the provincial team and sat on the Board of the BC Paraplegic Assocociation in Prince George for several years. In addition, she has spent time volunteering at seniors’ homes with the elderly. She has hands-on experience with individuals requiring essential basic medical equipment and mobility devices.
She is responsible for quotes and providing a high level of service for equipment sales. Tanya will be providing follow-up with clients to assure total satisfaction with products purchased.
